ICCCN 2008

We welcome all of you to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands during August 3-7, 2008 for the 17th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks (ICCCN 2008). This year we have assembled an excellent and exciting conference program thanks to the commitment and dedication of the Technical Program and Organizing Committees. ICCCN 2008 received 399 paper submissions across all the 16 conference tracks. Each paper underwent a rigorous multi-tier review process (led by the chairs of the respective tracks) and almost all papers received 3 independent reviews. After a careful selection phase, 98 papers were accepted for presentation in the main conference program and an additional 13 papers were accepted for the Advanced Networking and Communications (ANC) workshop. The acceptance ratio for the conference was thus 24.6% and the acceptance ratio including the ANC workshop papers was 27.8%. ICCCN 2008 is continuing a number of exciting features from last year as well as adding some new ones to the conference program. In addition to the excellent technical sessions, we have 4 keynotes by world-renowned speakers for the general conference, one for the SoCCaN workshop and the sixth for the IPMC/IMAP workshops, and talks by 11 world-class distinguished invited speakers on various advanced research topics or cutting-edge technologies. Furthermore, ICCCN 2008 features five invited papers in the program on important timely topics, and we also have seven papers designated as Best Paper Candidates in the program. The Best Paper(s) will be announced at the Awards Ceremony during the conference.

A high-quality conference of this magnitude cannot be accomplished without the active support and participation of a number of individuals. First of all, we thank Dr. Haohong Wang, ICCCN 2008 General Chair and Dr. E. K. Park, the Steering Committee Chair, for their trust, guidance, assistance and encouragement during every step of the ICCCN 2008 process. We also extend our sincere thanks to all chairs of the conference tracks and workshops as well as their TPC members. A list of all the Organizing Committee members, the entire Technical Program Committee including 4 TPC Vice Chairs, 35 Track Chairs and 424 Technical Program Committee members is given in the next few pages. We are especially indebted to Drs. R. (Mouli) Chandramouli, G. Manimaran, Suresh Subramaniam, and Wenye Wang, the TPC Vice Chairs, Dr. Xiaolin (Andy) Li, the Workshops Co-Chair, Dr. Song Ci, the Registrations Chair, Mr. Ayush Chaturvedi (UMKC), the website developer and Ms. Yuyan Xue (UNL) who helped with the program layout. Drs. Manimaran and Subramaniam also serve as the Best Paper Selection Committee Co-Chairs. Many thanks to the IEEE ComSoc Staff who helped facilitate the IEEE technical sponsorship process, the EDAS Staff (led by Dr. Henning Schulzrinne) and the IEEE Publications Staff (headed by Ms. Elizabeth Aubrey) for their help with the paper review and camera-ready processes, respectively. Their efforts were instrumental in our successful coordination of the whole process. Finally, we thank the authors, attendees and session chairs for your continued support of the ICCCN conference. We hope all of you enjoy the excellent conference program at ICCCN 2008 as well as the scenic beauty and attractions of the conference venue.
